About Rafah

UNICEF:

Rafah is one of the most densely populated places on earth, teeming with children and families, some already displaced many times by war in Gaza.

Of the 1.3 million people seeking shelter, 600,000 are children.

They have nowhere safe to go.

They must be protected.

12 Feb, 2024:

The attack on Rafah began 12 Feb at 2am. In the first half hour, 50 people were dead. Israel meanwhile ran a Super Bowl ad in the United States that this was in response to freeing two hostages. Apparently those hostages had been found 24 hours earlier!! One more lie.

There was a widespread backlash on social media platforms as Israel ran two propaganda ads during the Super Bowl while at the same time was carrying at least 50 attacks from the land, air, and sea, on Rafah, killing at least 63 civilians, most of whom were children. The footage documents the first moments of the brutal attacks. Over 40 airstrikes in the first hour.

The Hassouna Family’s story – 12 Feb 2024.

His Excellency Husam Zomlot, Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the UK. Former Ambassdor to the United States, wrote on X about his own wife’s family:

12 Feb, 24: Suzan and Sidra Hassouna were both killed last night, along with their family members, when Israeli forces heavily bombed Rafah. This is the child, 12, whose body was found hanging legless after she blown to pieces.
This is 7 year old Sidra, the cousin of my wife. The impact of the Israeli missile was so powerful it flung her out, leaving her mutilated body dangling from the ruins of the destroyed building in Rafah 48 hours ago. My wife’s aunt Suzan, her husband Fouzy Hassouna, two of their sons, Muhammad and Karam, Karam’s wife Amouna and her three children (7-year-old twins Sidra and Suzan, and 15-month-old Malik) were all killed. The family had been displaced from the north of Gaza and took shelter in Rafah. We will be relentless until those responsible brought to justice.
