5 June 2025: Veteran UK journalist and LBC host Andrew Marr said on Tuesday that Foreign Secretary David Lammy’s speech in parliament was “the biggest break in the UK’s language on Israel” that he could remember.
Lammy had called Israel’s actions in Gaza “unjustifiable” and “appalling” after announcing he would summon the UK’s ambassador to Israel and suspend trade talks between the two countries.
His words reflect a growing frustration among the international community with Israel’s refusal to reach a ceasefire with Hamas and allow aid into the strip, which has been under total blockade for 11 weeks.
The EU announced it would review its trade and cooperation agreement with Israel on the same day, citing potential human rights violations in Gaza.
