BREAKING: The International Court of Justice rules, by 14-1, that Israel must cease immediately all new settlement activities and to evacuate all settlers from the occupied Palestinian territory.
- ICJ has found that there are no compelling reasons for it to decline to give an Advisory Opinion requested by the General Assembly.
- In doing so, the ICJ has just thrown out the arguments put forward by US & Canada, which had asked the Court to decline to give an opinion on the legality of Israel’s occupation.
- ICJ says Israel’s settlement policy is in breach of 4th Geneva Convention.
- ICJ says that Gaza is effectively occupied by Israel despite 2005 disengagement.
- ICJ orders Israel to pay “full reparations”, restitution & compensation to all Palestinians for its all “wrongful acts” under the occupation since 1967.
- Also orders Israel to evacuate every single one of its settlements in the occupied territories.
- ICJ confirmed that the Oslo Accords cannot be understood to detract from Israel’s obligation as an occupying Power.
- ICJ dismissed arguments that the Question of Palestine is a bilateral matter between Israel and Palestine and confirmed that it is of particular interest and concern to the United Nations.
- The International Court of Justice in the Hague now labels Israel’s practices in the occupied Palestinian territories as APARTHEID. Which means they don’t recognize it as a state anymore.
@CraigMokhiber The World Court has just rejected all Israeli, US & western objections, ruled that the Israeli occupation of Gaza & the West Bank, including East Jerusalem (and all settlements), is entirely unlawful & declares Israel is committing racial segregation/apartheid in the OPT.
