The children reached the Gaza European Hospital after the raid. They are now being cared for by their aunt and uncle after the death of their parents, Mohammed and Hind
Their father Mohammed had been concerned about IDF troops and tanks around their home ahead of the raid. On 7 December he had messaged his brother and asked him to alert the International Committee of the Red Cross
Mohammed’s brother, Dr Omar Khattab, was reassured the house would not be bombed from the International Committee of the Red Cross the following day
