24 July 2024
Israel’s war criminal prime minister is in Congress today. Mike Johnson, speaker of the House, has repeatedly threatened anyone who disrupts Netenyahu’s speech with arrest. People today are in DC before the Capitol, protesting already. Since last night, they organized a noise protest where they protested in front of Netenyahu’s hotel with sirens and megaphones. Several congresspeople said they would not attend in objection to his presence. It is expected that Netenyahu will incite yet again against Iran.

John Ramming Chappell: @jwrchappell Prime Minister Netanyahu, who has used US weapons to commit countless war crimes against Palestinian civilians, addresses Congress on July 24 at 2pm. Dozens of legislators have indicated that they won’t attend. Here’s a running list.

Dozens of rank-and-file Democratic lawmakers plan to steer clear of Benjamin Netanyahu’s long-awaited address to Congress on Wednesday, wary of giving the Israeli prime minister a platform amid the ongoing conflict in Gaza that’s killed tens of thousands of Palestinians.
So far, at least 18 House Democrats and nine Senate Democrats have said publicly they’ll miss Netanyahu’s first address to Congress in nearly a decade, according to a POLITICO tally, including Senate President Pro Tempore Patty Murray (D-Wash.), Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and other party leaders like Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.).
(For comparison’s sake: 58 lawmakers skipped Netanyahu’s 2015 speech — and Democratic aides expect a similar tally of at least that many this go around.)

Netanyahu has no business in Congress. He belongs in the Hague. We need to arrest that bastard.

@RepRashida
·Netanyahu is a war criminal committing genocide against the Palestinian people. It is utterly disgraceful that leaders from both parties have invited him to address Congress. He should be arrested and sent to the International Criminal Court.

·Prime Minister Netanyahu has presided over an unmitigated humanitarian disaster in Gaza. In the interest of protecting human rights and ending this terrible conflict, Congress should not welcome him with open arms. That is why I will not attend his address.

·Netanyahu should be arrested—not honored in Congress. Like many of you, I am disgusted. There is no amount of money that can stop us from fighting for everyone’s human rights. ·I am deeply disappointed that Prime Minister Netanyahu will be addressing Congress tomorrow. His conduct has been both inhumane and disrespectful. I will not be attending his address. ·My statement ahead of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Joint Address to Congress.

I will not attend Netanyahu’s speech. Following Hamas’ horrific attack, Netanyahu’s war strategy killed 12,000+ women and children, inflicted widespread starvation, and prioritized his political survival over the release of hostages. He should not have a platform before Congress.

New: Sen MURRAY will not attend Netanyahu’s address to Congress, saying in a statement: “Securing a lasting, mutual ceasefire is of the utmost importance right now, and I will continue to push for one to be reached as soon as possible. ·I will not be attending the Joint Session with PM Netanyahu tomorrow. I think all my constituents deserve to understand why, which is why I’m speaking live on the Senate Floor now to explain my decision. I hope you will listen in: https://x.com/i/broadcasts/1/i/broadcasts/1DXxydwbrwbJM
