Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson : what are we teaching our children in America?

Rep. Jonathan L. Jackson @rep_jackson – (D) Chicago

Benjamin Netanyahu targets the southern Gaza city of Rafah, killing 22 people, including 18 children. This brings the death toll of innocent children to nearly 15,000. Every 10 minutes a child is killed in Gaza. The bloodshed is too much to bear. It has been less than 24 hours since Congress voted in favor of rearming the Netanyahu regime.

Netanyahu’s first act was violent murder against more innocent children in Gaza. This must stop. The U.S. is now complicit. We cannot cede our moral authority any longer. Netanyahu’s actions are immoral. U.S. foreign policy must not be foreign to our values. American made missiles will be ordered, shipped and delivered to Netanyahu before one American meal will be delivered to a famine-stricken people.

This while Netanyahu remains in violation of U.S. law.

His interference in U.S. humanitarian operations in Gaza violates section 620i of the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961. This law must be enforced. We must protect innocent civilians.

This endless rampage of revenge, retaliation and starvation on innocent civilians in Gaza, for the heinous crime committed by Hamas, must end.

What are we teaching our children in America? Is this action in Rafah strengthening or eroding our moral credibility in the world? Killing innocent civilians does not defeat Hamas, it recruits for Hamas. Netanyahu is not winning a war; he’s losing the long-term prospect for peace.
